Graduated magna cum lade from the Universidad Privada de Santa Cruz de la Sierra (UPSA), has a Masters degree in Comparative Jurisprudence from New York University (NYU) and later obtained a second Masters in Corporate Law from the Universidad Autónoma Gabriel René Moreno, Bolivia and Universidad Jaume I, España (UAGRM and UJI). Furthermore, she has attended at Oxford University, UK a course in Comparative Corporate Governance by the Cardozo Law School. She is the author of “Legislation of Share Risk Contracts and Joint Ventures”. Karla Wurth areas of expertise mainly include legal counseling in corporate, commercial, and civil law, as well as different areas of the regulatory system in Bolivia, such as hydrocarbons transportation and production, generation and transportation of electricity. She was assigned as the Bolivian counsel for the development and implementation of the San Miguel-San Matias-Cuiba pipeline, a binational project with Brazil. In this same manner, she has participated in different, national and international projects that have been important for the country. Furthermore, Karla Wurth is currently the comptroller for Empresa Petrolera Chaco S.A. and Plasmar S.A., both leading companies in their respective industries.

Maria Kim Shin

Did her undergraduate studies at Stern School of Business, majoring in International Business and Marketing (NYU). She later came to Bolivia and got her legal degree from the Universidad Privada de Santa Cruz (UPSA), were she graduated magna cum laude. Furthermore, she has attended various seminars specializing in Hydrocarbons Law, as well as Comparative Corporate Governance at Oxford University, UK (Cardozo Law School). She has a Masters degree in International Private Law from the European Business School (Escuela Europea de Negocios). She is the author of “Crossborder Insolvency, National Legislation with Worldwide Application”. She is the author and coauthor of various articles published in Energy Press, Latin Lawyer, International Law Office, and Latin American Energy Report. Maria Kim has actively participated in the negotiations and contracts for the transportation of natural gas between Bolivia and Brazil, and has been one of the main lawyers in the performance and implementation of them. She further specializes in regulatory, administrative law, international contracts, mining law and transportation of hydrocarbons by pipelines.

Mauricio Costa du Rels F. |
Graduated magna cum lade from the Universidad Privada de Santa Cruz de la Sierra (UPSA) and is author of “Requirements to be a Comptroller in Bolivia”. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the BolivianAmerican Chamber of Commerce, “BACC”, based in New York, USA since February 2004. He has been the Legal Counsel for Elfec S.A. in Cochabamba, Bolivia, a subsidiary of PPL Global and PPL Global General Counsel for Bolivia. Mauricio Costa du Rels areas of expertise mainly include legal counseling in corporate, commercial, foreign investment and tax law as well as different areas of the regulatory system in Bolivia, such as generation, transportation and distribution of electricity. He has been the main counsel for major company reorganizations in Bolivia in the hydrocarbons, telecommunication and cement industries, respectively. Furthermore, he has been the comptroller for Inversiones Sucre S.A. and Inversiones Oruro S.A., from their creation until they were finally transferred to Soboce S.A., a leading company in the cement industry. Currently the comptroller for La Cascada S.A.
